An Unofficial Coast Guard Library and More

An Unofficial library of Coast Guard stories, articles, poems, essays, and downright lies. There are links to other Coastie sites, lighthouse sites, military sites, and lots of other stuff. Stop in and visit for awhile. Be sure to check out the Newsletter pages. Look at the pictures if you can find them. Most pages have a musical background.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: With a few exceptions this entire website has been written in Microsoft Front Page. Some of the exceptions are the articles that have been posted in the Adobe .PDF format. In the future more of the articles may be posted in .PDF format. All purely .HTML documents have limitations concerning picture placement, fonts available for use etc. To enable those who do not have the Adobe Reader I am placing a link which will permit you to download it at your leisure. This is a free program and well worth your time. When a .PDF file comes up, Adobe opens it automatically if you have it installed on your system.

PicoSearch
    Help

To all those that look in on Jack's Joint:  Pico Search is a search engine that will search this entire website to find any word. If you are looking for an article about the CGC BIBB for example, enter Bibb in the search box and then put your cursor on search and hit your left mouse button. Everything regarding the CGC BIBB on this site will come up in an index form. This works for stations, lighthouses, authors, etc.

"Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."

JACK'S JOINT is optimized for 640 X 480 Resolution and High Color. This site is frames free and is best viewed with Internet Explorer 4 or higher. The background music, "Battle Of New Orleans" is in the MIDI format. Other MIDI music found on this site has been collected for a long time. Apologies to the music makers as it would be impossible now to provide due credit. We are not in this to make money anyway.

COPYRIGHTS! I want to touch on this subject. While most people want to share their pictures and articles, please understand that those sharing these items, do own the pictures and items. With the electronic ease we have to copy text and pictures sometime we forget that the items are owned by someone else. If using pictures or anything we post, please ask for permission. Most people do not care if items are used, but do not want items sold, and credit should be given.  It is a good rule to keep in mind when publishing items on the internet.
